How has the East Devon AONB Sustainable Development Fund been used..?
SDF SHOWCASE ACROSS SOUTH WEST : The SWPL Sustainable Development Fund Showcase 2010 features projects that received some of the £1million SDF spend across the National Parks and AONBs in the South West last year. Lots of good examples from across our region to push forward the low carbon future, biodiversity targets and sustainable communities - a genuine contribution from protected landscapes to bringing about the Big Society concept.
2009 / 2010 SDF Projects - Once again the East Devon AONB Sustainable Development Fund has supported a dozen projects to the value of £46,822.37
2008 / 2009 SDF Projects - Over £61,665 East Devon AONB Sustainable Development Fund supported 14 different projects
2007 / 2008 SDF Projects - More than £64,500 of Sustainable Development Fund supported 19 different projects, which resulted
in over £217,200 worth of local action being delivered.
All 14 Protected Landscapes, 12 Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs) and 2 National Park Authorities (NPAs) in the South West now operate Sustainable Development Funds. In 2007/08 some £1.25 million was distributed to 230 projects across our finest landscapes. One of the great advantages of SDF is unlocking other financial resources for project activity, as above. In 2007/08 the £1.25m fund contributed to project activity worth over £7.5m giving a leverage of £5 for every £1 of SDF spend. To see a video showcase of projects follow this link
2006 / 2007 SDF Projects - £72,000 of Sustainable Development Fund was awarded to 17different projects, which resulted in over £213,000 worth of local action being delivered.
2005/06 SDF Projects - £95,554 was awarded to 15 different projects, which resulted in over £186,093 worth of local action being delivered.
The first three years (2005 - 2008) of the Sustainable Development Fund were provided for by Defra through Natural England and delivered locally by the AONB team. Natural England has maintained support for this programme to the AONB in recognition of the grassroots activity the fund has helped to grow.
