Summary of East Devon AONB SDF Projects 2007 / 2008

The Sustainable Development Fund (SDF) supports projects that offer social, economic and /or environmental benefits

whilst also safeguarding natural beauty and local character of our finest landscapes .

1. "Field Days" - Connecting people with the farmed landscape through art and introducing children to healthy foods

2. "SW Woodfuels Phase 2" - Re-introducing people to the use of wood as a fuel via the Woodchip Boiler

3. "Alchemy Project" - promoting the viability of local, small scale, anaerobic digestion of kitchen and catering waste from local schools and businesses

4. "ACRES" - Working with local farmers to improve the environment in and around the rivers Axe & Char

5. "Sidmouth Hopper" - Increasing access to AONBs, World Heritage Sites and Sidmouth Town and reducing numbers of vehicles on the road

6. "Water Vole Recovery" - Protecting the water vole population and improving their habitat

7. "East Devon Way Corridor Enhancement" - Working with local communities to enhance the areas in and around the East Devon Way

8. "Offwell Lakeside Classroom Link" - Increasing sustainability of the Education Centre by providing better facilities

9. "Veteran Tree Management" - Promoting Best Practice for the prtection of Veteran Trees

12. "Tipton Hydropower" - Increasing efficieny through the installation of new hydropower equipment

14. "East Devon Small Woodland Network" - Commissioning market research into the needs of small woodland owners

15. "Budleigh Farmers Market" - Setting up a weekly Farmers Market

16. "Offwell Village Store" - Providing permanent premises for Village Post Office and Shop

17. "East Budleigh Village Hall Hedge Planting" - Replacing old chain link boundary fence with a sustainable hedge

18. "AVEP" - Improving the environment in and around the rivers Axe & Char

19. "Transition Town Seaton" - Raising awareness of Global Environmental issues
