East Devon Community Project Fund

Unfortunately due to funding cuts in 2007, this scheme is unavailable. It may be possible to secure support from our Sustainable Development Fund.

A small grant scheme aimed at encouraging local people to carry out positive improvements to their environment.

Find out about some of the projects recently funded by the grant scheme.

This is a discretionary grant scheme aimed at supporting projects that conserve, enhance and celebrate the diversity and character of the East Devon AONB.

Eligible projects would fall into one or more of five categories:

  • Landscape enhancement
  • Environmental improvements
  • Access enhancements
  • Local cultural or heritage projects
  • Information or interpretation projects.

Eligible projects might include:

  • Digging or renovating a pond
  • Planting an orchard or small copse
  • Producing a leaflet about your community's heritage
  • Laying a hedge beside a footpath
  • Providing new access to an area
  • Raising local peoples awareness about a local feature or habitat.

Availability of grant

Grants will be available to community and voluntary groups, parish and town councils, farmers, landowners, schools and colleges for projects within the East Devon AONB.

Level of Support.

Grants will be available to a maximum of £ 1000 or 50% of the project costs which ever is the smaller amount. Community based groups can use their volunteer effort as payment in kind to decrease their match funding to a minimum of 25 % of the total project costs (volunteer effort will be recognised at the current rate operated by the Countryside Agency).

What happens next?

Upon receipt of your declaration of interest form the AONB Team will make contact with you and arrange to meet and discuss the project further. At this meeting a more detailed application form will be completed. Based upon the information collected at this meeting the project will be assessed against our scheme criteria. This will be passed for approval by a panel from the AONB Partnership and we will undertake to let you know whether you have been successful within 14 days of meeting the AONB Team.
