The East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty landscape is characterised by intimate wooded combes, vast areas of heathland, river valleys and breathtaking cliffs or hilltops. It includes the East Devon section of the Jurassic Coast- England's first natural World Heritage Site.

Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty are part of the same family of protected landscapes that includes National Parks.

JULY EVENTS: We, as part of the South West family of protected landscapes, support Roadford Lake Woodfair Saturday 12 & Sunday 13 July 10.00- 5.00pm. Come and experience the wonderful world of wood. The AONB is also part of the East Devon Heath Week - check out the free events on offer on the Festival day Sunday 27 July 11am-3:30 at Woodbury Castle.

LOCAL ACTION FOR OUR RURAL BUSINESSES AND MARKET TOWNS: Your help has enabled us to submit a bid to SWRDA for local action, jointly with Blackdown Hills for over £4.4 million. JUNE's WALK of the MONTH: Peak Hill and Mutter's Moor, Sidmouth. You will be rewarded with some of the finest views of the Jurassic Coast and Sidmouth and discover wonderful heathland wildlife, especially the chirring of nightjars at dusk! Leave the car in Sidmouth and use the Hopper to see the timetable or pick your copy alongwith vouchers from Sidmouth Information Centre which started 1 June.

BRINGING THE PAST TO LIFE- PARISHSCAPES is our new lottery funded community project that can help you learn about our past and present landscape. Seventy nine attended succesful Parishscapes Conference 26 April....read more . Over 1000 attended the recent 'History of farming in the Lim Valley' in Uplyme. Some information will still be displayed at Lyme Regis Museum.

Got a small wood? Contact us if you are interested in joining other owners to explore opportunities to improve your woods- we are putting on a years programme of events for 2008 - next event 14 July.
