The Acland Award is named in recognition of Brigadier Acland, who was influencial in the designation of East Devon AONB in the early 1960's.
The bronze buzzard award was designed by local artist, Emma MacFadyen. It is presented every year at the East Devon AONB Annual Forum in September. We award it to an organisation, business or individual that has demonstrated outstanding examples of excellence or exemplar activity connected to the AONB.
2016 Award - This year we celebrated glorious East Devon food and drink produced in our landscape.
Nominations were open to a wide range of businesses - a dairy farmer who makes their own cheese, a farmer who raises or sells his own meat or someone growing fruit, producing wine... the list could go on!. But we were also looking for something a little extra - while creating your fabulous product, you are helping people understand more about the landscape; giving tours, holding open days, helping promote what makes the AONB special.
