The AONB Family

The East Devon AONB was designated in 1963

The East Devon AONB is one of 46 AONBs across the UK. A National Association for Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty exists to provide general information about AONBs www.aonb.org.uk.

In England alone, there are 34 AONBs covering nearly 15% of its best bits!

The South West Protected Landscapes Forum also exists to provide information and a regional voice for the 14 Protected Landscapes that together make up 38% of the South West of England. For more information visit www.southwestlandscapes.org.uk.

The East Devon AONB is one of five AONBs in Devon - the others being the Blackdown Hills, North Devon Coast, South Devon and Tamar Valley.

The East Devon AONB covers 267 sq km, or 33% of the District of East Devon, whilst the Blackdown Hills AONB covers another 33% of the District.
