Visit Aylesbeare Common as part of your walk on the East Devon Way.

West-East: Stage 3: Aylesbeare Common – Sidbury (7.5 miles) Contrast the heathlands of Aylesbeare with the River Otter and take in panoramic views at Fire Beacon Hill Local Nature Reserve and East Hill. The villages of Newton Poppleford and Sidbury offer well earned refreshments.

East-West: Stage 5: Aylesbeare Common to Woodbury Castle (3 miles) This leg falls entirely with the largest block of lowland heath west of the New Forset – the Pebblebed Heaths – locally known as ‘the Commons’. Enjoy the sense of wilderness and you might just be lucky and spot a dartford warbler or ruddy darter!
