Our projects are as varied as our landscape, but each of them shares a common purpose – conserving and enhancing the AONB.Â
We work together with the AONB Partnership, local community groups and many other key organisations to support meaningful conservation and deliver core projects for the benefit of our AONB communities, wildlife biodiversity and cultural heritage. Â

The Grey Long-eared Bat Project
The East Devon AONB Team and the Bat Conservation Trust are working together in both East Devon and West Dorset to help enhance wildflower meadows in these areas to benefit both bats and people.

Devon Greater Horseshoe Bat Project
A five-year project with 18 partner organisations working together to secure a better future for the rare Greater Horseshoe Bat.
Environmental Land Management
A trial nature-recovery project in the Umborne Valley. Part of a national programme (ELMS).
Legacy to Landscape
A project involving communities in their local heritage and celebrating a valuable landscape within East Devon, based on a 1781 map of the Shute Estate.
Art on the East Devon Way
A programme of creative events, focused on engaging a diverse range of people with the route and the surrounding landscape through the medium of art.
Princes Trust Resilience Programme
Supporting family farm businesses and building more robust businesses, capable of success in a changing environment.
Tree to Sea
Contemporary art and artists, revisiting the work of local Victorian antiquarian Peter Orlando Hutchinson, who painted many well-known East Devon scenes.
Back to the Future
A cultural heritage project to preserve old film footage of vintage East Devon life, by converting films and images from various sources to digital format.
In the Footsteps
Peter Orlando Hutchinson (1819 -1897), resided in Sidmouth during the mid-1800s. He studied historical features of the landscape extensively.
Parishscapes
A community project steeped in history, making all tithe maps for East Devon AONB parishes available for public use.
